Capella have been singing together in their current line up for almost 2 years, having previously belonged to a very successful ensemble of 7.
We modestly chose the name as Capella is the brightest star in the Auriga constellation & also because we sing acapella most of the time.
However, whilst our roots are firmly in the barbershop genre our repertoire extends far beyond that and includes pop classics like Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics, Natural Woman by Carole King, Payphone by Maroon Five and Billy Joel’s beautiful Lullabye & And so it goes.
Our style is very intimate and perfect for special occasions. We have sung at birthdays, weddings, a graduation ceremony and most recently at an event to mark the centenary and 70th anniversary of the two world wars. We had great fun learning some new repertoire for the occasion, following in the footsteps of The Andrews Sisters & Dame Vera Lynn, with Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy & A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square, which was also our first venture into singing accompanied by the piano.
